In early 2024 American Forests, the oldest national conservation nonprofit in the United States, received a $12 million grant from the USDA Forest Service under the federal Inflation Reduction Act. American Forests\u2019 innovative approach is to help private landowners access emerging markets, including markets for carbon, clean water, and biodiversity. Revenues from these markets compensate forest owners for the ecological benefits of restoration.<\/p>
