A blanc siggy
The international siggy list is made up of people who exchange Dear Jane D13 patchwork blocks by snail mail. We use the "Field of Dreams" pattern in column 13, row D of the quilt from Jane A. Blakely Stickle (1817 - 1896). Brenda Papadakis studied the quilt in detail and published the 225 patterns in her Dear Jane book.
Siggy is short for "a little signature block". In the mid-1800s women created several types of signature blocks. They stitched them together into remembrance quilts for weddings, retirements, and other special occasions. Our siggies are embellished square in a square blocks. Visit our gallery for some examples.
